I wonder about a college football playoff?????????
Well today marked the first day that I have seen people on T.V. talking about the top eight college football teams playing in a playoff. Why? Why do they talk about something that is not going to happen? It for sure is not going to happen until after the 2014 season. ESPN just inked themselves a lucrative deal to host the BCS game from 2011-2014. Paid a mere 125 million a year to hold that right to host the BCS.
So why are sportscaster all across America talking about a college football playoff? Is it because there is a lull in the season? Do they need to bridge the gap of the end of the regular season to the beginning of a long and drawn out bowl season? Don’t get me wrong after the debauchery of the BCS these past few seasons, I am all for a playoff, but why keep talking about something that is not going to happen.
The current BCS system draws the bowl games out a month and a couple days after the regular season ends. Remember the good ole days’ when on January 1st all the major bowls were played and the season was over. Now we are waiting until January 8 to find out the BCS champion.
So as long as college football allows greedy T.V. stations to keep vying for the rights to host the BCS games, we will never see a playoff. I guess we can all go to bed tonight with the vision of a playoff though. Sweet dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree completely… no point in talking about the playoff system, everyone knows that it needs one, but nobody [mainly the BCS people] aren’t going to ever go to that…
Seems to me they could do a play-off within the bowl games to keep everyone happy, but doesn’t look like it’ll happen anytime soon…
